Match Manager Duties

  1. Contact the opposition and check all OK, confirm date, time etc.
  2. Agree playing conditions with opposition. For example maximum number of overs per bowler, retirement score, whether LBW will be allowed etc.
  3. Select the team or chase for additional players if required. If selection help is required consult with the committee.
  4. If it's a home game, check the pitch is booked, for an away game check and confirm location, provide directions etc.
  5. Food:
    1. For Verulamium Park matches check sausages and chips are booked for 6 Bells and if called off let them know ASAP.
    2. For Clarence Park matches ensure pizzas are ordered for delivery around the time the match ends
    3. For Sandpit Lane matches ensure a suitable venue is arranged for post-match food
  6. Ensure all kit is accounted for and will be at the match.
  7. For a home game ensure the scoreboard will be at the match.
  8. For all games ensure someone is bringing the scorebook.
  9. For a home game we provide the ball, away game opposition do. Check a new ball is available. We play evening matches with a pink ball, so ensure the opposition are aware of this.
  10. On day liaise with own team and opposition especially if bad weather and we need to call off.
  11. Collect subs from own team and usually 50% of pitch plus ball cost from opposition. Likewise for an away game we need to pay them 50%. Subs to be paid to club account details from Simon.
  12. For home games at Clarence Park we need to £10 per man from both home and away teams to cover the cost of the pitch and the food.
  13. Take legible copies of score cards and pass on to Simon.
  14. Ensure a match report is written.
